Privacy Policy

The short version: your conversations are never stored — not on your phone, not on our servers. Everything core runs on your iPhone. We only keep the minimum needed to run optional features like accounts, credits, and learning-progress sync, and you can delete all of it from inside the app.

1. Who we are

Languido ("we", "us") is an iPhone app that provides live, on-device interpretation and translation. This policy describes what information the app and its supporting services handle and why. Questions? Contact support@languido.ai.

2. Conversations are never stored

Languido's core job — listening, transcribing, identifying speakers, and translating — happens on your device. Conversation transcripts exist only in your phone's memory while a session is open. They are never written to disk, never uploaded to our servers, and disappear when the session ends. In offline mode, no conversation data leaves your phone at all.

3. Optional cloud features

Some optional features route data through our server so they work without any setup on your part. When you use them:

These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the feature you invoked. You can avoid all of them by using the app offline or with on-device models — the app is fully functional that way.

4. If you create an account

An account is optional — it unlocks premium models, credits, and cross-device sync. If you sign up, we store:

Session tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device and expire after 30 days.

Without an account. You can buy credits and use the Learn tab without registering. In that case Languido keeps your credit balance and course progress against a random identifier that iOS assigns to this installation of the app (its "identifier for vendor"), together with the purchase records Apple gives us. This identifier is not your name, email, or hardware serial number, and it changes if you delete and reinstall the app. Creating an account later is optional; if you do, that balance and progress move into the account.

5. What we don't do

6. Service providers

We rely on a small set of infrastructure providers to run the service: Heroku (application hosting), MongoDB Atlas (database), Apple (App Store payments and push notifications), Google (Google Play payments and push notifications on Android), Stripe (card payments), SendGrid (transactional email), and the AI providers listed in section 3 when you use cloud features. Each receives only what is necessary to perform its function.

Analytics and install measurement

To understand which features people use and whether our advertising brings people who actually use the app, the apps include two measurement services: Google Firebase Analytics (app usage: sessions, time in the app, and milestones such as finishing a lesson or a live session) and AppsFlyer (install attribution: which campaign, if any, led to the install, plus the same milestones). They receive a random installation identifier, your Languido account id, coarse technical details about your device, and event names with codes and counts — for example "lesson_complete, level B1" or "live_session_end, 3–10 minutes". They never receive what was said or written. On iPhone, attribution uses Apple's privacy-preserving mechanisms (SKAdNetwork and Apple Ads attribution), and the app asks once for Apple's tracking permission: if you allow it, AppsFlyer and Meta's software in the app also receive the advertising identifier (IDFA), which reaches Meta with the milestones described below, so our ads can be matched to installs; if you decline, the identifier is never read, and you can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android the advertising identifier is used only if you have not turned off ads personalization in your device settings. Both services act as our processors under agreements that restrict use to providing the service to us.

Advertising on Instagram and Facebook

We advertise Languido on Instagram and Facebook. So that Meta can count installs and show our ads to people likely to use the app, Meta is told about five milestones from the iPhone app: the app was installed, the app was opened, setup was finished, an account was verified, and a subscription was started. They reach Meta two ways: AppsFlyer passes them on, and the iPhone app includes Meta's own measurement software (the Facebook SDK), which reports the same milestones directly. Each message carries the name of the milestone together with the identifier Apple assigns to your device for our apps (the "identifier for vendors"), the advertising identifier if you allowed tracking, your IP address and the make and system version of your device, which Meta uses to match the milestone to an ad it showed. It carries no amounts and no lesson or language details, and never anything you said, typed or translated. The options that would share an email address or phone number with Meta for matching are turned off. Meta handles what it receives under its own privacy policy.

Our own usage counts

Separately from those services, our own servers keep a daily tally for each installation or account, so we can see which parts of Languido are actually used and improve the ones that aren't: which features were used that day, how many times and for roughly how long (for example "2 lessons finished, 14 minutes of live interpreting, 3 app opens"), together with the app version, device model and operating system version, your language settings, your device's time zone and region setting, and the country your connection came from. We work the country out from your IP address when a request arrives and do not store the address. These tallies are counts and durations only — they never include anything you said, typed, translated or studied, and there is no record of individual actions or when each one happened beyond the hour of day. They stay on our own infrastructure, are not shared with anyone, are erased when you delete your account, and are removed automatically after 400 days.

7. Data retention and deletion

Account data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your profile, credit balances, credit history, learning progress, preferences, push tokens, usage counts, and any courses you published are erased. Purchase records are retained (unlinked from your identity) as required for financial record-keeping. Local data on your device can be erased from the same screen.

8. Security

All communication between the app and our servers uses TLS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, session tokens are signed and time-limited, and API access is authenticated and rate-limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we design so that the most sensitive thing — your conversations — never reaches us in the first place.

9. Children

Languido is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Most of these are available directly in the app (account screen and account deletion). For anything else, email support@languido.ai and we will respond within 30 days.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
