Frequently asked questions

Does Languido really work offline?

Yes. After you download a language pack, speech recognition, speaker identification, and translation all run on your iPhone — airplane mode included. Optional cloud features (premium AI models, cloud speech recognition, premium voices) need a connection, but the app never requires one.

Which languages are supported?

On-device transcription covers roughly 40+ languages and translation covers the pairs supported by Apple's on-device translation, with more available through cloud providers when you're online. The first time you use a language, the system downloads its speech model and translation pack — this doesn't count against the app's size.

Are my conversations recorded or stored?

No. Transcripts live only in your phone's memory while a session is open and disappear when it ends. Nothing is written to disk and nothing is uploaded. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

Do I need an account?

No — the app works fully without one, offline and with free AI models. An account (email + verification code) unlocks premium models, credit purchases, and syncing your learning progress across devices. New accounts get 10 bonus credits.

How do credits work?

Credits pay for metered premium usage: premium AI models, cloud speech recognition, premium voices, and cloud translation. One credit is roughly one US dollar of usage. Buy packs via in-app purchase, or subscribe monthly for an allowance that resets each renewal (subscribers also get 15% bonus credits on packs). Your balance and full history are in Settings → Account.

How do I set up the AirPods interpreter mode?

Connect your AirPods (or any Bluetooth earphones), start a Conversation or Group session, and translations will be spoken into your ear while the phone's mic listens to the room. Keep the phone out of your pocket or bag when possible — it hears the room best on the table. A haptic tap signals new translations if the phone is pocketed.

Why does a phone speaker or mic setting matter for AirPods?

Languido deliberately keeps recording on the iPhone's built-in mic and uses AirPods for output only. Using the AirPods mic would force Bluetooth into a low-bandwidth mode that degrades audio in both directions.

How do I delete my account and data?

Settings → Account → Delete Account. It's immediate and permanent: profile, credits, history, learning progress, preferences, and published courses are all erased. You can also erase local data on the device from the same screen.

A language I want isn't in the Learn tab.

Request it from the Learn tab — requests are counted and courses are prioritized by demand. You'll get a notification and email when your language ships.
